Wye backwards - out the Alfalfa, and down the West leg. S. P. Redondo Tower would let us. My usual practice was to tell them to head my way. U. P. In the meantime. I would call the U. P. Dispatcher to get permission for the S. P. That was usually. There was seldom any opposing traffic in the. I would also let Redondo Tower know that the S. P. With permission from the U. P. Dispatcher to come off the. U. P. One of their Yardmasters would usually come in. Signals. By the rule book, once you gave anyone a signal it belonged to them. Sometimes when. conditions changed, we would call the crew and ask permission to take. They usually gave their permission if they were.
